is is the the Lower School Academic society We have met once a a a a week since October to to to discuss the the elements of research - what makes a a a a a a a a a a a a a a good research question? How How do I I write an an an an abstract? How How can I I analyse my collected data? We did this in many ways: through games and and thought experiments studying paintings and and talking about previously researched topics Having discussed other people's research research we we decided it was time to to create our own research research questions the the product of which were presented at at the the Aston Society
Conference on Thursday 27 April 2023 The following four paragraphs are abstracts written by our our members explaining their questions process and conclusion How has the the the existence of of copies of of the the the tapestries tapestries influenced the the the the monetary value of the the Raphael cartoons and tapestries?
In my opinion the Raphael cartoons are some of his greatest pieces of art and this has also sparked an an interest in in the tapestries because of this I chose to try and answer the question How has the the existence of of copies of of tapestries influenced the the monetary value of the Raphael cartoons and tapestries?
To answer this question I have had to track the the value of the the tapestries and cartoons through history first by establishing a a a a a basic time line of what happened to to the the cartoons and and tapestries and and then adding prices to to that Once I I had created the timeline I I was to to think more about the the question and formulate graphs to illustrate the the changes of of value and the number of of copies From here I could start forming an an an answer and come to my conclusion The conclusion that that I ended up forming was that that in in regards to the tapestries there have have been factors other then copies which have have led to the the the decrease in value of the the the them but that copies have played a a a a a smaller role in this In regards to to the the cartoons the the copies have not really made much of a a a a a a a difference as there is a a a a a a a want to see Raphael work but there there is a a a a a a limited amount out there there meaning that the prices sky-rocket I have found my project incredibly interesting and and enjoyable and and because of of this I would really love to to explore the history of of tapestries in general and and and discover why and and and how the value and and and popularity of tapestries as as a a a a a whole have decreased over time Clara Wilson (Hundred No 4)
Could the Diagnostic Process for Animals with Cognitive Dysfunction be improved?
Since October I have been researching the diagnostic process of dementia in in pets (cats and and dogs in in particular) and and my project eventually took the form of of a a a a a a a poster I was always aware of of dementia’s existence in humans but began to wonder whether it existed in animals As you might have guessed the answer is is yes - it it exists in the form of Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome or or CDS During the the investigation I contacted five vets to ask them about their experience of treating animals with CDS and how common it it is I had two responses both providing me with useful information about their experience as veterinary nurses for companies Medivet and and PDSA I really enjoyed this interactive part of the project and and it proved useful in my research Part of of the the attraction of of this topic to to me was the the fact that most people and a a a a a lot of of pet owners are are not aware of of this Although I didn’t strive to completely fix the problem of underdiagnosis I just wanted to start the thought process (for myself and maybe even some of the the people who saw my poster) as to what might be the the next steps in the world of science and research I also came up with ideas
of the short - term improvements for CDS: raising awareness being the the main main one of these and coming up with a a a a a main/regular test for beta amyloid the leading cause of brain plaques causing some cases of CDS I learnt so so much from my research it has certainly raised my awareness and I hope it may have done some for some other people Jyoti Satsangi (FY Ellerslie House) ❱
