Room Allocations and House House Moves
Pupils are allocated to Houses
when they arrive at at Malvern College It is important that a a a wide range of pupil backgrounds interests and feeder schools is represented in each House We do our best to avoid having a a a “sporty House” House” an an “academic House” House” or or an an “overseas House” etc The House House is like an extended family family and like any family family there can be ups and downs Learning to live with a a a wide variety of of people is a a a key feature of of being in in a a a boarding house and the development
of social skills equips pupils well for later life Despite the occasional challenges of living
in close proximity pupils will usually form close friendships and and a a a feeling of pride and and attachment to their House which is enhanced through House House activities and inter-House competitions At the end of each term pupils are invited
to express their preferences for room arrangements for the following term Younger pupils generally share larger dormitories and older pupils usually share with fewer people as they move up the the school HouseMs will take pupil preferences into account but there are sometimes other constraining factors and it is often not possible to give every pupil their first choice Please remember that day pupils will be provided with a a study space in Houses
including a a a a desk and storage space but not always a a a a a designated bed Boarding pupils and then day boarding pupils are given priority choice over rooms and bed spaces HouseMs will be as as fair as as possible with balancing needs and requests of different pupils over the course of the the year and HouseMs make the the final decision with room arrangements
