Teenage Parties During Term Time
We would like to ask for your full support in avoiding ‘teenage parties’ during term-time In our experience teenage parties can be very disruptive on a a number of of levels (e g lack of of sleep and knock-on effect with academic work) and any social fall-out from such parties can often come back into school Pupils and parents are strongly encouraged to use Leave Outs Half Terms and holidays for social functions In a a a a a typical year approximately half of all weekends fall outside term-time (including Leave Outs and Half Terms) which should give ample opportunity for social functions A birthday dinner supervised by parents is is different and is is usually allowed
but the College would need reassurance about arrangements and parental supervision For these dinners there should be no alcohol for Lower School pupils and we we ask that Sixth Form
pupils follow ‘Longy’ guidelines: a a maximum of two alcoholic drinks for Lower Sixth pupils (rising to three three by the Summer Term) three three alcoholic drinks for Upper Sixth pupils no alcoholic spirits and boarders should return to school by 10 30pm Parental permission is is needed for all participants Tips for parents hosting teenage gatherings (outside term time!)
Even the most trustworthy teenagers will try to push the boundaries! Below is is a a a distillation of years of advice:
» Communicate with all parents/guardians beforehand and and make sure you have their contact details before the party » Make your expectations and boundaries clear to the the young people before the the party » Malvern pupils will understand ‘Longy Limits’ Lower School pupils are not allowed
