   Senior Schools
One of our most important jobs is working with families to help you select the correct senior school for your child and working with pupils to ensure that they are prepared for visits, pre-tests and interviews. We prepare children for pre-testing, which usually happens in Year 6 or 7. Part of this process is always an interview and we guide the children through this, on questions they are likely to be asked and how to present themselves in their best light. We always encourage them to read and watch the news and discuss current affairs from around the world with family, staff and peers.
Senior Schools Evening
On Thursday November 17th at 6.30pm we will be joined by Senior School Heads and Registrars from Cheltenham College, Malvern College, Moreton Hall, Radley, RGS Worcester and Shrewsbury School. This will be an information evening designed to help advise parents about the process for admission into a senior school. A range of issues will be discussed such as the age-old question of single sex vs coeducation full boarding, part-time boarding or day, whether to consider scholarships, how to apply for bursaries and a wide range of other topics. There will be time at the end of the evening for questions. Please do join us, even if you are not thinking of these specific schools as the evening will give information pertinent to all schools and the process in general.
Boarding
The first half of term has flown by in the boarding house. It has been wonderful to welcome our new Matron, Miss Mabbott, to our team and the children have loved getting to know her. Matron oversees the boarders’ clothing, laundry, personal hygiene etc and lives in the main building. If parents want to contact her directly then they can do so by emailing emma.mabbott@abberleyhall.co.uk. We have also enjoyed getting to know the new team of Gap Assistants who are such an important part of our boarding team.
Our boarders have settled well into the routines of daily school life. They have been positive and upbeat and have really embraced the feeling of the boarding house being a home-from-home. Do keep sending in photographs from home as this helps to make the house feel cosy and homely. The weekend programme has been as popular as ever with a fantastic Roller Disco, a Bowling Trip and a visit to the West Midlands Safari Park as well as more relaxed in-school weekend activities. It has been wonderful to welcome so many day and part-boarders into school to take advantage of the weekend activities on offer.
After Half Term we have another fun weekend programme planned and we would love to have as many children as possible with us in school to take part:
  Saturday 12th November
 Sunday 13th November
Bonfire Party
Laser Quest @ Ice Quest (extra cost of £15pp)
Our school Bonfire Party is on Saturday night (save the date). On Sunday the boarders will be going to Ice Quest in Malvern for games of Laser Quest followed by Slushie drinks!
Saturday 19th November
 Sunday 20th November
 World Cup Fever!
Caught In A Game Escape Room Activity
With the football world cup starting on Monday 21st November (come on England!) the boarders will take on the human table football inflatable. We then transform our Main House into an escape room challenge, this year called ‘Caught in a Game’ – cryptic...what could it be? You will have to be there to find out.
