Who doesn’t love a nerf war? Who doesn’t love UV face paint? And who doesn’t love Christmas? Well Saturday night has it all! Christmas, combat style. On Sunday we will be going into Worcester to do some Christmas Shopping.
Spa Night Xmas Cards and Crafts
Sport
It has been a brilliant start to the Autumn term on the sports pitches. The children have thrown themselves straight into games sessions and matches and parents have hopefully enjoyed being able to watch them!
The U8 and U9 boys and girls have been having lots of fun attending local school festivals, which are a great way for the children to get to grips with playing hockey and rugby against other schools and experiencing match day routines.
The U10 and U11 boys have been adapting to what is quite a step up in the physicality and competitiveness of rugby. They have had some tough matches but have been brave, dug deep and their confidence is growing.
The U11 girls have also been working hard and shown that they have a lot of exciting potential. They have attended tournaments and had some fantastic matches; my personal highlight was the thrilling game against Moor Park!
Finally, the senior boys and girls have been leading the way and showing the younger pupils where they can get to with lots of hard work. At the start of the term, some of the children travelled to Orwell Park on a mini-tour and all the pupils have been playing weekly matches throughout the term so far. The B and C girls’ teams enjoyed the annual Abberley tournament and came 2nd overall. The As recently played some outstanding hockey at the IAPS tournament and came 4th overall, meaning they narrowly missed out on qualifying for Nationals. It was a fantastic achievement. Well done girls!
October also saw the return of our hugely successful cross-country competition where we welcomed 11 other schools to Abberley. It was a great afternoon where all of the runners pushed themselves to their limits. Last Saturday we held our annual Patrol Biathlon competition which saw the children swim lengths of the pool, put on trainers and a t-shirt as quickly as possible and then run a section of the cross- country course. It was a fun experience for the children and it was brilliant to see them taking part in what is a new event for some, and enjoying it! Well done to the Peewits who were the overall winners!
Here at Abberley we really value the importance of giving pupils a wide variety of sporting experiences and we look forward to continuing that after Half Term with our first ever girls’ football matches against The Elms! A huge well done to all the children on what has been an action- packed and exciting first half term of sports. We have lots more to look forward to next half!
Saturday 3rd December
Sunday 4th December
Saturday 10th December
Sunday 11th December
On the final weekend of term, the boarders will enjoy face packs, hair products, nail stickers and more. They will then make their own Christmas Cards (which they will send home on Monday) and get creative with some Christmas Crafting.
Masquerade Ball – Boarders’ Christmas Party
The Boarders’ Christmas Party this year is taking place on Wednesday 7th December and the theme is a Masquerade Ball. It will feature such wonders as a Rodeo Christmas Pudding (yes that’s right!) a Magic Mirror photo screen, plenty of Christmas side stalls, dancing and....there was another thing....oh yes, A 5-TIER CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!! The dress code is smart and there is the requirement of wearing a masquerade mask as well. The boarders will be designing these themselves in the days before hand but anyone else coming in for the party will need to provide their own. It promises to be a very fun evening and we welcome day pupils to take part if they would like to stay for the night and be a part of the occasion. The ticket price per person is £10 in addition to the ad hoc boarding fee for day pupils and those who wouldn’t
normally be boarding on a Wednesday night. We do have to limit numbers to beds available overnight so please book early to avoid disappointment!
