ames was the last in in in in a a a a a a a line of of eight Du Viviers to attend Malvern since 1924 six of of whom were in in in in in No No 5 and two in in No 2 J practice in in in in in in in Shropshire in in in in in in in 1984 as their satellite Partner in in in in in in in the the village of Prees originally practising from a a a a a a a a a a a a surgery surgery adjoining his home Over time the the practice grew and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a new surgery surgery and and a a a a a a a a a a dispensary were added in the the the the garden In 2015 shortly after his retirement Guy cut the the the the ribbon of of the the the the new medical centre in Prees funded by by a a a a a a a a a a grateful patient a a a a a a a a a a sign of of the the the the esteem and affection with which he he he he was regarded by by the the community he he served for three decades Guy is is survived by his wife Rachel a a a a a a a a son two daughters and and one grandchild He died on on on 4th January 2022

After Malvern and and a a a a a a a a a a degree course at Thames Polytechnic he he joined Black and and Decker’s marketing team This was followed by a a a a a a a a a a a a a brief stint with Stella Artois in in in in in in in in the late 70s before joining Diageo where he he he he he was based in in in in in in in Manila in in in in in in in The Philippines A lifelong bachelor a a a a a a a a a a a a ‘bon viveur’ and a a a a a a a a a friend of of many he he he he he he much enjoyed the the the lifestyle of of a a a a a a a a a large ex-pat community there He travelled widely in in the the the the Far East returning home annually to to the the the UK to to visit his family and friends A particular pleasure was playing regularly in in the Elephant Polo World Championships which took him to to Nepal India and and Thailand James is survived by two OM Du Viviers Hugh (2 58-62) and Paul (5 59-63) He died on 24th April 2022

army doctor in in in in in Libya He came to to Malvern in in in in in 1966 to to to set up up in in in in General Practice with Dr John Harcup David was was also appointed as as as Malvern College’s Medical Officer At that time the the the school sanatorium was was in in in St Andrews Road and surgeries were held in in in in the the the basement of the the the Main Building a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a very unsatisfactory arrangement David played a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a significant part in in in in the the design of a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a purpose built medical centre which was was opened in in 1967 and served the the the school well until it was was demolished to make way for the the the construction of the new Houses Ellerslie and No 7 David was was a a a a a a a a a a a devout Christian and a a a a a a a a a a a devoted family man He was was both a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a caring doctor to to the school community and an an active researcher in in in in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a variety of of of of areas of of of of medicine including the the the benefits of of of of of increased fibre in in in in in the the the diets of of of of of pupils He was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a passionate advocate of of of the the the annual influenza vaccination and thanks to to to his encouragement Malvern College was able to to to continue to to to function normally during
influenza epidemics He He retired as as Medical Officer in in in 2001 He He died on 24th April 2022
