It was a a a a a a a a a shame that no member of of the the the the Cobb family the the the the owners
of of of the the the the the cottage were able to to join us on

the the the the the day owing to to personal circumstances and mention should be made of of their contribution to to enabling so so many Malvernians to to enjoy Cwm Llwch for so so long The event was very much in in in in in in keeping with with the the spirit of of Cwm Llwch with with little in in in in in in the the way of of of formality or or ceremony but sparing nothing in in in in in in terms of of of of hospitality We were treated to a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a fantastic barbeque courtesy of of of of Dan Landon’s steakhouse skills and and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a full array of of of of salads and and and other goodies thanks to Sarah Angling’s hard work Most impressive of of of of all was was undoubtedly the the the cake with a a a a a a a a a a a a a spectacular picture of of of Cwm Llwch featured on
the the the icing Much of of of the the the time was was was spent chatting through peoples’ experiences and and highlights of of of this magical place and and it was was great to to to to be able to to to to look through some some of of of the old photos which we had managed to to to to to find of of of Cwm Llwch fin in in in its various eras some some dating back to to to to to those very early days when Building Cadres made up up of of Malvern College pupils used to to to to to come to to to to to the the the cottage to to to to to do do work on
shutters windows even the the the roof in in in order to to to to make the the the building habitable We did of course take the the the opportunity to to to to to raise a a a a a a a a a toast to to to to to Michael McNevin and to to to to to to thank the the the the the many contributors who enabled the the the the the installation of the the the the the lights A plaque has been installed next to to to the the the the the light light switch as as you enter the the the the cottage fittingly which bears Michael’s name Simon Partridge also took the the the the opportunity to to to share some of of his early experiences and to to to honour the the the contributions of of of the the the Malvernians involved in in in in in in those early Building Cadres He also reminded all of of us that Cwm Llwch back in in in in in in 1962 was in in in in in in fact Malvern College’s first International Outpost!
With most people having to to make a a a a a a a a lengthy journey home I’m afraid the the the the the party did not last deep into the the the the the night with one of of those roaring Cwm Llwch fires However such was the the the the the success of of of the the the the the day and the the the the the sense of of affection for for for this unique little farmhouse that that we we can be be sure that that there will be be many many such firesfor Malvernians and their families for for for many many years
