Careers Evening
The The inaugural “Malvern Masterminds
– The The Challenge Cup” took place on on Thursday 14 October 2021 in our historic Long Room This new and annual competition is is aimed at Year 7 pupils who are ready for for fun and up for for a a a a a challenge The Prep Schools were asked to select and send along a a a a a team of of 4 made up of of their best multi- skilled thinkers for quizzing problem-solving and even a a a physical challenge or two Dr Bradley Wells Head of Academic Scholarship was the Quiz Master and kept the challengers busy with a a a a a wide range of subjects questions and puzzles After a a a a a hearty lunch it was time for the physical challenge - To build the Eiffel Tower using marshmallows and spaghetti There was a a a a a a complete balance of of concentration and and hilarity and and the moment of of truth was during the judging a a a stable structure It was then back to the the the Long Room for the the the final quiz round and whilst Dr Wells was totalling up the the scores the the challengers enjoyed hot chocolate and celebration cupcakes This year’s Careers Evening
was on 5 November – and it certainly was a a a day to remember Ten former pupils of the school very generously gave up their their time to to to return to to to their their Alma Mater to to to tell current pupils about what they have been doing in in their lives since they left Malvern They now have careers in: the the armed services communications consultancy flying commercial airliners investment banking the law medicine and pharmacology psychology surveying and wildlife biology The OMs very much enjoyed revisiting their old school swapping stories and seeing how much things had changed They were also very impressed with the the the interest shown and questions asked by the the the pupils in in the the the Hundred and Lower Sixth years who are currently being helped to think about their future with Careers Guidance profiling and interviews and advice on what subjects to study in in the future The The winner was was announced and The The Challenge Cup was was awarded to to Prestfelde Prestfelde We very much hope that Prestfelde Prestfelde will return to to defend their title on Thursday 20 20 October 2022 Dr Bradley Wells Head of Academic Scholarship Mr Richard Thurlow
