Malvern College is to be the venue for the PSB’s Scholarship Symposium, which will take place on Tuesday 12th October 2021. Dr Bradley Wells, Head of Academic Scholarships, and I will be contributing to the discussions on Malvern College Scholarships and Preparing children for Scholarship the PSB Way, with colleagues from the PSB, Winchester University, Lancing College, and Deans Close, St John’s.
Last month saw the launch of Malvern TEDx. This is a collection of original TED talks made by our pupils as part of the U6th IB Summer School Programme. The topics and presenters were varied with some challenging topics. The guest speakers were introduced and then questioned by our pupils. The questions produced even more interesting facts, an example being the answer to the question about air pollution put to Mr Alessandro Bisagni, Founder and Managing Director of BEE Incorporations, an international sustainability engineering consulting and technology company. The question was ‘Which plants can help reduce air pollution in our home?’ The answer was most, but especially Mother-in-Law’s tongue, which despite its unfortunate name is apparently incredibly useful in reducing Volatile Organic Compounds from the air.
We are currently working on some exciting events for Prep Schools for the Autumn Term, including the inaugural ‘Malvern College Masterminds Challenge Cup’, ‘A Celebration of European
Languages’, cricket and hockey masterclasses, an ‘Adventure Day’ for Yr 8 pupils who are registered and confirmed for September 2022 entry and a drama/musical workshop followed by a matinee performance of ‘High School Musical.’ Each of these events promises to be fun and additional learning opportunities for your pupils. It would be great to welcome your pupils and teachers to these events.
Finally, I hope you enjoy the summer break when it arrives, and I very much look forward to welcoming you to Malvern College very soon.
