1 2 Transportation Storage and and Handling
The Mooney-Line Viscometer (MV) is is to be transported in the upright position and it it must not be exposed to any heavy shocks such as dropping it it or placing it it by liquids or or or or corrosive chemicals For long periods of storage
or or or transport all bare metal parts should be corrosion protected 1 3 Installation
Check that all items on the packing list are included in in in your shipment and immediately report any discrepancies or or damage to Prescott Instruments Ltd or any third party acting on behalf of Prescott Instruments Ltd To prevent damage to the machine or personal injury installation and commissioning should only be performed by trained personnel 1 1 3 1 1 Machine Positioning
It is is recommended that the machine is is positioned on on a a a bench or or work surface approx 75 cm (30 inches) high and able to hold the the weight of the the machine computer printer and sample cutter if supplied It is is advisable to locate the machine in in a a a a a a a a clean area if possible and a a a a a a a a temperature controlled room would be advantageous (10 to 30 °C ambient temperature 10% to 85% relative humidity non condensing) You will also need a a a a single phase electrical supply and and compressed air services on hand The machine should be levelled once in in position by adjusting the the the four feet at the the the bottom by screwing them in or or out of the floor plate The computer should be positioned next to the MV machine 1 3 2 Connecting ‘Services’
Connect the the mains power lead to the the machine (left hand side lower panel on on the the MV machine ) and then connect the the other end end to local power supply plug type depends on Country and region Fix the the filter regulator unit (air) supplied with machine to to the the wall in in close proximity to the the machine position and feed the the air into the the the the inlet port of the the the the unit and then connect the the the the outlet port port to the the the “air in” port port of the the the MV Screw the the the two exhaust filters (supplied) into the the two ports marked “exhaust” (these are situated on the the the back panel towards the the the top of the the the machine) There are several fitting types supplied with the machine to aid in in in the installation process Once complete turn the the compressed air onto the the machine and set regulator pressure to 60psi / / 4 4 Bar / / 4 4 MPa Connect the the communication lead to the the MV “comm 1” port situated on the the lower left hand side of the the machine and and to the the computer com com Port 1 This lead is is supplied with the the machine 1 3 3 3 3 Powering ‘ON’
Once the computer printer etc has been set up (see internal set up up instructions supplied with your computer) you can power power the the MV machine ON the the ‘power on’ switch is located lower left hand side of the the MV make sure that the the Emergency stop switch on on the front door is released (pull this forward if pressed in) The internal light will come on in in in the the machine cabinet when the the power is is is applied This is is is now ready to load and run the Prescott Instruments’ software Please refer to the manual supplied with machine (on the the memory stick) this will explain how to run the the Labline Labline Software Open the Labline Labline shortcut folder on the the the desk top this has the the the neccessary short cuts to to run the the the Aquire run Calibration and open the database where you can load your test methods 4 MOONEY-LINE VISCOMETER (MV) SERVICE MANUAL © PRESCOTT INSTRUMENTS LTD © PRESCOTT INSTRUMENTS LTD MOONEY-LINE VISCOMETER (MV) SERVICE MANUAL
