2 0 Maintenance
2 1 Daily Maintenance
a a a a a Clean the dies and rotor surfaces of any visible rubber particles and contamination Use a a a a a soft wire brush or cleaning pad material see Fig 6 (page 25) Note: some quality control situations may need a a a more thorough cleaning program dependent on through put and compound types b Check air filter (on left hand side of machine) for the electronic enclosure area Change if required (recommended to be changed at least once a a a a week but is dependent on on on the surrounding conditions and the air quality see Fig 7 (page 25) c c c Check ‘O’ ring seal is in in place and not damaged Replace as required 2 2 2 2 Weekly/Monthly Maintenance
a a a Change the ‘O’ ring seal if required b b b Remove the height adjuster bolt and brush any excess compound which has accumulated down the rotor shaft through and out the bottom See drawing number MM100B (page 12) c c Remove the Dies and and rotor and and clean Note: Gloves may be required if the dies are still hot Once cleaned replace the the dies When replacing the the lower die die before tightening it up place the the rotor in in this will help align the the die with the shaft d d Check the main air feed regulator/ mist separator
unit and replace the elements if necessary (it is recommended that they are changed every 4-6 months dependent on the the quality of the the customers air supply) e e e e e e Check and adjust the air supply setting should be set set to 60 psi or 4 4 4 2 2 2 Kg/cm2 / / / 4 4 4 2 2 2 Bar / / / 4 4 4 MPa f Set the rotor height see Section 1 5 g g g Clean and replace the ejector spring See drawing MM107B (page 17) h h h Carry out a a a a a Calibration of the Torque To To do this please refer to the Software Manual / Calibration section 2 3 Service Maintenance
The full service and calibration procedure is to be carried out by fully trained personnel only It is recommended that a a service schedule is set up between the customer and the service supplier Please contact Prescott instruments
to arrange details (it is is recommended that 6 months is is the maximum time between service visits for the average user ) One of of the the main main requirements of of the the main main service is to remove the main bearing housing and shaft for inspection and cleaning As mentioned above this should only be carried out by trained personnel To carry out this procedure please follow follow the following guidance steps Refer to drawing MM100 (page 12) and MM101 (page 13) a a a Stop the the the motor and turn turn the the the temperatures off To turn turn the the the temperatures off off you may either turn the the machine off off or shut the the the software down either option will turn the the the heaters off (Please check that they have stopped before proceeding) b b Remove machine mat (black) c c c Loosen the the four bolts which hold the the motor in place these were under the the mat that you have just removed and are located in in the the four visible slots in in the the base plate of the machine (front left) DO NOT take bolts completely out they just need to to be be loosened so the the motor can be be slid to the the the front end of the the the slots in the the the base plate d d Remove the lower die probe (pulls out) e e e e e e e Remove the lower platen housing this done by undoing the the three cap head bolts holding the the platen in in place f Remove the lower die caution this may be hot! Again to do this remove the three cap head bolts g g Now looking inside the the the front door of the the the machine the the the main bearing housing can be be removed by loosening the four M8 cap head bolts these need to be unscrewed by approx 8mm only As you do this the bearing housing/ shaft will drop down h h h h h h Twist the the bearing housing housing left to right and the the housing housing will then be be able to drop down and be be removed from the the machine Caution when doing this is is required to drop it straight down so as not to to damage the the top of the the shaft on exit (Note: this should be held in two hands when performing this operation as the bearing housing/shaft is heavy!)
i i i Check bearings/shaft etc and clean as required MOONEY-LINE VISCOMETER (MV) SERVICE MANUAL © PRESCOTT INSTRUMENTS LTD © PRESCOTT INSTRUMENTS LTD MOONEY-LINE VISCOMETER (MV) SERVICE MANUAL 5
