Sport
In what has been a a a a a a a a a a a a very strange start to the the the the school year and and despite the the the the many restrictions placed on on sport and and other areas of life the the the the students and coaching staff have have continued to to to to work together to to to to ensure all the the the students have have been able to to to to enjoy playing sport but also develop their skill sets Not having fixtures has has certainly been a a a a a a a a challenge but thinking outside of the box and creating opportunities for competition has has worked well and and and it has has been a a a a a a a a a a a a a real testament to to the students and and and coaching staff that sport has has continued to to such a a a a a a a a a a a a a high standard Cricket
Congratulations to Rehaan Edavalath Josh Josh Baker and Josh Josh Dickenson who have been selected for the Worcester County Cricket
Academy We will have confirmation of all age group County players confirmed in the new year Hockey
Just before the lockdown Jasmine Ellis (U18) and Lily Hutton (U16) had had their England Trials Both had had brilliant days with Lily making it through to the the second phase of the the trials Otty Thomas has been selected into a a a a regional centre for Hockey
Wales whilst six other players have been invited to England Hockey
Performance Centres: Amy Grammaticas Gia Neath Jasmine Ellis and three of our goal keepers Susannah Watkins Isabel Barrett and Will Hooper We were lucky enough to have former Pakistan International Imran Yousaf (who played in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games) who who is well renowned for his technical ability drag flicking and aerials to come in and run a a a a skill development session for all year groups The pupils really enjoy being coached in in a a a a different style and picked up up some great technical work on their first touch Imran last coached at at Malvern in 2012 and he he spoke about how impressed he he was at at how far we have come with our hockey programme facilities and standard of players In the penultimate week of term we we had inter-house tournaments with a a difference: inter-house hockey year group competitions meant five separate competitions with matches played as four-a-side games They were very exciting tournaments some very close match match ups and lots of matches coming down to penalty shuffles Equestrianism
Over the half term we had some competition successes with Oliva Davies (No 6) captain of our Equestrian Team competing in in in the the British Showjumping at Allens Hill in in in the the 1 1 15m class on her her horse Ludo which she won by 4 seconds In other news from the half term break Will Hooper (No 2) competed at Kings Equestrian in in Bromyard with his pony Defiance (Bruno) in in the NSEA Area Showjumping Qualifier With over 40 other competitors Will jumped a a a lovely double clear to win his class 22
