A QUICK SPIN TO SHETLAND 2024 continued...
The show itself has over 300 vehicles and probably 200+ motorcycles, plus an entire hall of models and automobilia displays.
I was told about 60% of the cars were from Shetland itself and the rest come over specifically for the show.
The furthest travelled vehicle we found was a couple up from the South Wales with their Hillman Imp. A 15 strong contingent from the GB Lagonda Club came past on Sunday during their tour of Scotland and the Islands
bringing a touch of glamour. Overall, there was a great range of vehicles, largely British, European and Japanese with a few US - probably the biggest group was from the Classic Landrover Club. We were the only KG there and attracted plenty of appreciative comments – many people had never seen one before, so I had plenty of explaining to do about the origins of the car and the tie
up with VW. There were a few other VW representatives with Beetles and Golfs plus
a Karmann built Corrado and a couple of Sciroccos. The local car lovers and visitors
to the show were very appreciative of the effort owners had made to bring their cars over – probably one of the best atmospheres of the shows I have done and a very relaxed vibe. Walking around Lerwick in the evenings there were plenty of classics parked up and everyone in the restaurants etc seemed to either be a classic owner or were aware the show was on and were planning to attend.
