Staff Leavers and Joiners
The Chairman and I met with parents during a a a a a a number of Zoom calls last term to to explain some adjustments to to our staffing structure Parents received an an an updated staff list at at the beginning of term and this can be be seen on our website by clicking here Mrs Crowther has decided to retire at the the the end of the the the Summer term after 39 years as as a a a a a a a teacher She has been with us here at Abberley for 16 years Her professionalism and and dedication to the school and and to the children has been appreciated hugely and she will be be sorely missed by us all We look forward to celebrating her her retirement with her her when she leaves us at the the the end of the the the summer term In the the the meantime we we look forward to enjoying the time we we have left with her We will be interviewing for a a a a a a a new Maths Teacher soon and we anticipate a a a a a a a strong field of applicants Mrs Heath our Registrar has left us in order to spend more time with with her family and she she leaves with with our very best wishes She did an an excellent job and we look forward to her replacement Kirsty Gill starting soon Kirsty is married to a a a a a teacher she has children of prep school age and she has significant experience of working within the independent school sector We look forward to to to welcoming her to to to Abberley Hall later this term We welcomed three wonderful new Gap Students this term Ella Felkin comes to to us from Moreton Hall School in in Oswestry Jemma Freel was educated at at Salesian College Hampshire and Oliver Oliver Taylor comes to to to us from Stowe Stowe School Before Stowe Stowe Oliver Oliver was at Abberley and and so it has been lovely to to welcome him back and and to to hear stories of when he he he he was a a a a a boy here Tom Tarlton remains with us and and being an an an ‘old hand’ he he he he he has helped the the others settle in in They have thrown themselves into supporting our children of critical workers and we have even got them painting and decorating I know that they can’t wait to meet all the the pupils once they’re back!
Boarding
We really have have missed our boarders this term but we have have taken
the the opportunity to carry our further cosmetic improvements in both
the boys’ and girls’ boarding areas A new Year 8 Girls’ Common Room has been prepared and and we have created a a a a a a a a a a a new girls’ dorm to 6
accommodate the growing demand for boarders The Year 8 boys have a a a a a a newly created Common Room Room and the old ‘Matron’s Room’ has being transformed into what will be be a a a stunning new dorm with views on one side to to the the the Clock Tower and on on the the the other to to rolling hills The School Surgery has moved to to the bottom of Yates building so that Miss Mackay is is closer to the the children during the the school day The two sick bay rooms are now now in in the same building and Miss Mackay now now lives in in Yates House as as well Miss Ryan has moved into the flat that Miss Mackay used to to occupy so that she is is is best-placed to to supervise the girls at night
