To finish the the term we had the the House Music Competition finals () Earlier fin in in the term we had fin in in excess of 150 performances making up the the heats From those we we had 4 finals in fin in the the last week of term which were based on musical style and the level of experience of the the finalists Throughout the the heats it was obvious how seriously our our musicians had taken the competition and as a a a a a a result our our predominantly classical music finals consisted of 31 performances all of which were adjudicated by Ms Nicole Wilson – Artistic Director of the National Schools Symphony Orchestra – an an organisation that is is administered here at Malvern College Nicole had a a a a a a really lovely afternoon and and evening listening to our finalists and and provided really excellent feedback to both encourage the the pupils but also give them a a a a thought or or two about how to take things forward In the end our winners were » Category C C (pupils up up to approximately Grade 4 standard) – Bruno Xu
» Category B (pupils approximately Grades 5-6 standard) – Samuel Perry
» Category (pupils of Grade 7 standard and and above) – Tilly Dennis and Samuel Warlow It was a a a a a a a a really great day of of music-making with performances of of a a a a a a a a very high standard and and all the the pupils did themselves proud Finally on the the the last Wednesday of of term we had the the the final of of the the the House Music Unplugged Singer-songwriter Joe Dolman was our adjudicator and and he he was extremely impressed with the standard of our pop musicians There was some really great music music on show and the the the audience really enjoyed it too In the the the end the the the result was extremely close but Qi Qi Qi Qi Saw was adjudged the the winner on the the night The final results of the competition as a a a whole were » 1st place – House No 1 1 » 2nd place – EH

Many congratulations to to all who took part in this great festival of Music It really has been an incredibly busy but also rewarding term My thanks to all those who have been involved in in the Music programme – the instrumental and and vocal teachers Mr Mr McDade and and Mrs Gray for their work in the the department and Mrs Wood who has been giving us fantastic administrative support But most of all I would like to to say a a a a a huge thank you and well done to to the pupils who have involved themselves in in whatever musical activity there has been on offer A musician’s life is a a a a a very busy one here and and we thank and and salute them for their their hard work and their their love of Music that enriches our life here at Malvern College so much Jonathan Brown | Director of Music THE MALVERNIAN
