MESSAGE FROM NEW PRESIDENT - CHRISTIE LEARY
I would like to thank the committee and membership for bestowing the honour of President to me during this year’s AGM. I am not sure if I deserve it. However the committee will bear this out, hatching the idea behind my back was quite an achievement.
I am not often reduced to tears, but it happened three times. Firstly when the proposal was made at the committee meeting prior to the AGM; secondly when the membership rati ed the idea; and nally when a huge bouquet of owers was presented to me during the Saturday evening social.
Standing down from the Chairman’s position was a wrench, I have enjoyed the position very much. A decision was made by the committee some while back that key positions should be held for 3-4 years only, hopefully this will stop the club from becoming stale.
The club is in better shape now than when I rejoined the committee, for that I thank the present & past committee members who have supported me, without them I would have chucked in the towel sooner. VWT2OC
means a lot to me as I have been a member since 1992! In fact it has been the centre of my social life, I have made some really good friends through it. My proudest moment has been over-seeing the year that VWT2OC reached its 25th anniversary.
So may I take this opportunity to salute not only the committee members of now, but those in the past, above all I salute you the members who make the club. Your continued support keeps the black & yellow colours of VWT2OC ying.
Finally I wish Malcolm every success in his new role as Chairman; I know he has some new and exciting ideas to enhance your membership.
I hope to catch up with members old & new in the New Year.
So I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
