The College communicates closely with parents, usually via the HouseM or the Safeguarding Team, and it is very important that parents give us full information about any mental health concerns, counselling or medication before a pupil starts at Malvern College. Any previous psychiatric assessment or report will need to be provided before a pupil starts at the College. It is a breach of the parent contract
to not fully disclose physical and mental health information and history.

Her previous roles include working as a mental health nurse in a National Health Service (NHS) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team and NHS inpatient adolescent eating disorder units. Since qualifying as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, she has worked in state, grammar and independent schools
as a therapist. Lucy is passionate, skilled, and knowledgeable in treating adolescents experiencing mental health difficulties.
Lucy holds a degree in Mental Health Nursing (BSc Hons) and a Post Graduate Diploma
at Master’s Level in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She is accredited by The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and receives

Treatment Approach
Lucy uses both CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) in her approach
when supporting pupils. Treatment focuses
on exploring a young person’s thoughts, feelings and behaviours and offering practical interventions which can have a positive impact on improving an adolescent’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. She also uses interventions from DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) which enhances skills in regulating intense emotions. Fundamental to therapy
and counselling is a strong therapeutic relationship. Lucy ensures she creates a trusting environment where a pupil feels heard, understood, and accepted. Lucy is currently
in the process of undertaking further training
in EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization
and Reprocessing. EMDR is a type of psychotherapy used to help individuals process and recover from traumatic experiences in their lives and is an evidence-based treatment
for trauma.
Lucy has experience and training in treating the following conditions: Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder), Health Anxiety, Stress, OCD (Obsessive- Compulsive Disorder), Trauma – PTSD, Depression, Eating Disorders, Self Esteem Issues, ADHD, Emotional Dysregulation.
