Travel Days, Leave Outs, Half Terms and
Pupils may leave school at any time after
06:30 on the Friday at the start of a Leave Out or holiday (Half Term or end of term) from the boarding houses, without the need to request permission. Boarding parents/guardians must complete IGTM to confirm holiday arrangements (please see IGTM section below). Formal school commitments end on Thursday at 18:00 before the Travel Day and pupils may leave school after their commitments on Thursday, but not before.
Parents are earnestly requested to respect
term dates. Curriculum time is important, and teachers continue to teach productive lessons right up until each Leave Out, Half Term and
the end of term. Please schedule any medical, overseas university visits or other appointments with this in mind. Please do not ask for pupils
to miss lessons or other commitments on Thursday, as permission will not be given. Leave of absence should be requested via MyMalvern in exceptional circumstances, when lessons or other commitments might be missed, such as for medical appointments. National regulations regarding school attendance were tightened in August 2024, and they are particularly stringent for visa holders.
We are required to notify the Home Office if visa holders fall below certain attendance levels. Mrs Young is our Attendance Officer and she maintains oversight of pupil school attendance. Term Dates are on the College website with Travel Days clearly marked.
Boarding house opening times
Boarding houses are locked and alarmed at night. Pupils cannot leave the boarding House before 06:30 or return to the boarding House after 23:00. Please arrange for guardians
to host your son/daughter overnight if flight arrangements would require departure from, or arrival at, the boarding House outside these hours.
Early arrivals after holidays
If pupils return to school before 18:30 after Leave Outs or Half Terms (except for the October Half Term) then they should go to the Sixth Form Centre from 14:00 where they will be looked after by a member of staff. Prior
to 2pm, pupils should be in the care of their parents or guardians.
