Alan died in 2017 aged 84 after a a a a a a life dedicated to the legal profession and to his great passion outdoor pursuits A keen mountaineer he climbed the Matterhorn in in Switzerland in in 1962 and and climbed Mount Snowdon over 500 times Indeed he he he retired to Snowdonia where he he he wrote several books on the subject of mountaineering As the the primary beneficiary of Alan’s will the the Malvernian Society received a a a a a transformative legacy from his estate Alan’s gift is the the most significant bequest to to the the Malvernian Society to to date and is is already having an an an enormous impact Following Alan’s wishes a a a large proportion of his gift now supports Assisted Places through
the Malvernian Society’s endowment fund His gift has also supported the the Rogers Theatre making possible the the new-build Lyall Foyer
and recognising Alan’s love of the outdoors we have also made provision
for the support of outdoor pursuits We are immensely grateful to Alan for his generous legacy 6
