MEDICAL PRO-FORMAS
POCKET MONEY
All parents need to complete a Medical Form and In Loco Parentis Form. Request to Administer Vitamin Pills or Complementary Medicine.
These forms are including in the Joining Forms that
all new parents have to complete before a new pupil joins the school. If parents have any medical concerns at all then it is always best to get in touch. If need be then we can arrange a meeting with our School Nurse to ensure that we are aware of everything that we need to know about.
PASTORAL CARE
All members of staff are involved in the pastoral care of pupils who are encouraged to approach any member of staff about a problem at any time.
This could be Jonnie or Tessa Besley, the child’s
Tutor, a member of the teaching staff or one of the boarding team. In each classroom, there is a poster entitled ‘Unhappy or Worried About Something?’ with instructions for what to do. All children have a Form Tutor and pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8 also have a Personal Tutor. The Form Tutor or Personal Tutor should be
the initial point of contact for parents. If need be then information is shared with other staff as appropriate.
PATROLS
Each pupil is assigned to one of our four school ‘patrols’ or houses. These ‘patrols’ are an historic tradition going back to the founding of the school over a hundred years ago. Children meet in patrols for
an assembly each week and they compete with their patrol during various friendly and spirited events such as sporting and music competitions. The Patrol Cup is hotly contested. A member of staff is allocated to be in charge of each of the four patrols and these members of staff provide an additional layer of pastoral support wherever needed.
THE FOUR PATROLS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
» Wood Pigeons
» Peewits
» Owls
» Cuckoos
Neither day or boarding pupils should need pocket money at school. If pocket money is required for a school trip then parents will be informed and a small sum will be added to the school bill.
SAFEGUARDING
A
A COPY OF THE SCHOOL’S SAFEGUARDING POLICY
IS AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE OR UPON REQUEST.
‘Safeguarding’ children is our top priority and more important than anything else we do at school. By ‘safeguarding’ we mean ‘child protection’ but also everything else we do to prevent children from harm and to ensure that they are flourishing physically and emotionally. We have a thorough health and safety culture, excellent medical facilities and
staff who provide excellent pastoral care. Children are encouraged to speak to staff if they have any problems at all and staff will always take the time to listen. If parents have any safeguarding concerns at all then they should contact the Headmaster or Mr Bennett-Tomlin, our Designated safeguarding Lead.
SMOKING
There is a general no-smoking rule for all school buildings, and we would be grateful if all adult visitors observed this.
SPEED LIMIT
We request that great care is taken when driving in the grounds to ensure that there are no accidents. Young children may well walk or run without looking carefully. Please drive very slowly and remain alert whenever in charge of a moving vehicle anywhere around the school site.
SWEETS
The school tuck shop is for boarders only. Please could children not bring sweets into school at all.
