Obituary

On October 21st, 1971, in Los Angeles, CA, Loy Gene Sr and Amelia

Harris Steed, welcomed Loy Gene Steed Jr. He was the last born of 8
children, in which his father and sister Janet proceeded him in death.

Loy accepted Christ as Lord & Savior at an early age. He was known
for his smile & memorable laugh and was affectionately called by his nick-
name “Joon”. He had a love for fast cars, stylish clothing, and smelling
good everyday. He completed his schooling at Long Beach Jordan high

          school.
In 1994, Loy became a loving father to a beautiful baby girl, Annissa

          Steed.

Later in life, Joon met and fell in love with his ride or die, Malaika
Wright. To this union he gained four loving sons, Koray, Kevin, Kristian,
and Kamai, and 7 grandchildren, changing his name to Poppa Joon.

Joon had a heart of gold and possessed an immense love for family
and friends. He spoke with his nephew Boobie, everyday, laughing about,

“what’s going on with them Lakers”.
Joon was a gifted cook, taught by his dad. He became a well known

and proud Chef in Las Vegas, Nv. After relocating to the High Desert, he
took a leap of faith and reopened his own oil store “One Stop Fragrance
Shop” at the Victorville Galleria, where he would talk to everyone and he
loved every moment of his time spent there. He was truly a “Jack of all

          trades”.
Joon had a deep passion for fishing, a hobby that brought him joy and

peace. He loved sharing his love for the sport with others and if he couldn’t
take you fishing, he’d be sure to cook you up some. He loved feeding people
          and made everyone feel welcome.

Loy leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Amelia Harris Steed; 6
