The Honeybee Conservancy has a competitive grant program for educators who would like to host a honey bee
hive, or a mason bee house and bees. Are you a: grade, middle or high school; college or university; tribal educa-
tion agency; environmental center; a food bank or community garden that does not charge a membership fee?
Take a look at www.thehoneybeeconservancy.org, and see if a “Sponsor-a-Hive” grant is right for you!

Also consider partnering with your local university, or beekeeping club/association. Maybe they will set you up
with bees, if you promise to help take care of them!

Look to your local Rotary groups. They often have easy to apply for community grants, and love to fund tangible
         things like hives, equipment, etc.

Consider asking your school board to fund your apiary, or native bee hosting project. This might be a good way to
increase buy-in and likelihood that they help support the installation and long-term stewardship of the project.

How about asking your students if they would like to fundraise for the bees! This is an awesome way to teach ac-
counting and business, and crafting and executing a successful “ask” is a great way to build confidence. It’s also a
great way to help them feel truly invested in a legacy that will benefit future students for years to come!
