RECREATION DEPARTMENT PHONE POLICY
Each site will receive a cell phone for emergencies and communication with the office. This is not a number to give to your families for daily communication. A staff person should have access to the phone to receive incoming calls from the supervisory staff or office.
The phone CANNOT be used for personal calls. Whether it is on-site or with you, the phone is your responsibility. Township and school phones are for emergencies only.
Township Cell Phone Guidelines:
 Township phones must be accessible at all times. It is your responsibility to keep the phone charged and on a staff person at all times – in case of emergency.
 Check periodically for messages from the office or supervisors.
 Do not give out your Township phone number to any of your parents without permission from your supervisor, (dial
*67 before calling to block your phone number). Your jobs are active and require your full attention on the children – not talking on the phone to their families (or anyone else). If a family member needs to contact you – they may call the office and we will contact you.
 Never make or accept a personal text message on a Township phone.
 Never use the camera feature of a Township Cell Phone for personal use. Never post from the township phone to
social media sites. All images taken on site are to be placed in the drop box folder for your site.
 When answering the phone, state your site name, followed by your name and how can I help you. For example, “Hi,
this is Steiner Day Camp. Frank speaking, how can I help you?”
 Never text and drive while in a vehicle. Please see the page on our Distracted Driver Policy.
 *Internet use on phones must follow our township internet policy- use accordingly
You must set up the voicemail on the Township cell phone. Select Voicemail from the list. Your voice mail password is the last 4 digits of the phone number. Example voicemail which should be used:
“You have reached the Civic Center day camp. We are not available at this time. Please leave a message with your name and a number where you can be reached and we will return your call as soon as possible. If you need to speak with a staff person immediately, please contact the main office at 586-286-9336. Thank you for calling the Recreation Civic Center where we are making memories that last a lifetime!”
Do Not Change the Preset Password on the Phone
After the summer season is over, all site cell phones are returned to the cell phone provider for a credit. If we cannot restore the phones to factory conditions the credit will not be issued. Therefore it is imperative that all changes to the site cellphone must be completed by the office staff.
If you are having problems with your site phone, please contact the office staff so that the issue can be taken care of.
Smart Phone Policy (When Applicable)
 Any applications downloaded to phone must be pre-approved by supervisors and administration.
 Do not turn off location features.
 Do not change the passwords to any part of the device
 Please return all chargers, adapters, cases, and other items upon returning the phone.
Your Personal Cell Phone:
Your position with Clinton Township Recreation requires your full and undivided attention to the public. Use of your personal phone keeps you from fulfilling your job duties. If an employee is found using their cell phone, for personal business, the first warning is verbal. The second warning is written. The third offense merits immediate dismissal. Usage of phone includes texting. Do not take pictures of participants with your cell phone.
