On July 25 2018 my request was approved to use the Sense of Community Index – SCI(1)
and/or SCI-2 for this research project as described. I was told both instruments have their
advantages and was encouraged to feel free to compare and decide usage as I see fit. Please find
the indexes attached. With permission to use the indexes, I can create and disseminate the survey
through any format for the use as I described in my approved application. As part of my agreement
to use this instrument, I also agreed to participate in a short user survey. This periodic survey helps
us further validate the instrument which, in turn, makes any work I do with it more rigorous. Its
use at the final Red Blue Dialogue that I adjusted to make the questions more fitting as requested
by Katherine before turning in this dissertation depends upon ripe conditions and interest of
participants in my adding that scale into my interview process.
