What Is It?

How do plants make their own food? Why can’t organisms like humans do this? We

have to look at structure of plants. Plants have leaves which serve as the main organ for

photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the food making process by which sunlight is converted

into chemical energy. This process takes place in an organelle called chloroplast. But take

note that not only plants posses chloroplast. For instance, green algae have chloroplast,

which allow them to carry out photosynthesis.

Let us examine leaves and chloroplasts and their role in photosynthesis in plants.

Click the leaf structure and study its characteristics.
