As you’ll read in in in in in in this edition I became the the department head in in in in in in August taking over for Karen Thole During my first semester in in in this position I I have have been continually impressed by the contributions of our faculty staff and students I I am particularly proud to share that we have have reached a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a record high research research expenditure for for the the department This tremendous collective effort represents the the many ways our research research is is having tangible impacts on society including spearheading energy energy efficient vehicles and advanced energy systems This magazine magazine represents only a a a a a a a a a a a a a a handful of these stories Every day the the the department is is inspiring change and and and impacting tomorrow Please enjoy the the the 2021 ME magazine magazine and and and I look forward to to to to sharing our accomplishments with you for years to to come Sincerely Mary Frecker
