Food is definitely the main focus and this movie shows the characters sampling the local street food specialties in
different parts of Indonesia. Aruna’s friend Bono is a chef in Jakarta and he is looking for menu inspirations. The
food is not eaten in fancy restaurants, but rather from food carts, kitchen stoves, or from big pots of crabs at a
pier. I think everyone in our audience had their mouths watering!
Aruna draws in the audience by making her comments directly to the camera from time to time. The editing was
good but I felt that the storyline was rather weak, and the conclusion of the movie was also rather weak.
The Indonesian countryside, the sometimes-amusing conversations or happenings, and of course the food all
added to an interesting and entertaining movie. It made me look forward to the dinner and quiz evening on 14
August.
