“We are here for our community, not for ourselves, to serve and show respect to our veteran’s and Frist
Responders.”
The may 27th memorial day event presented by the veterans and 1st responders club was attend- ed by over 200 fellow members and residents. The entire program consisted of pictures/videos and music honoring our nations fallen hero ser- vice members.
The county sheriff honor guard led by Matt Brewster presented the nations colors and was assisted by executive member Russ Buser with the presentation on the meaning of the 13 folds of the American flag. On the big screen was a special video of the significance of the miss- ing man table. Cathi Webster, our member, sang the national anthem and recited the meaning of the significance of the poppy on Memorial Day, and Dan Gromko, also a member, recited the invocation. Our deep appreciation to these members who volunteered their time and energy.
Special program attention paid tribute to ser- vice members who paid the ultimate sacrifice, highlighting our club service members who have passed-on. The photos were shown on the big screen and the selected songs, (We’ll meet again” and “I’ll be seeing you” were especial- ly chosen as they were the most popular songs of WWII. A solemn audience looked on, some with tears. A special guest speaker (on video), was President Ronald Reagan . He spoke of the significance of freedom and those who preserve it!
VFRC President Joe Carroll paid special at- tention to the club volunteers who in the last 2-1/2 years who worked very hard to prepare and present these programs. Special thanks to Marie Brogna, event executive planner and sec- retary for all her hard work.
