JANUARY 2025
Heroics Save the Day at the pickleball courts. On
August 2, 2024, Parker Burns saved the life of George
Oestreich. Parker rode his bike to the pickleball
courts around 8:30 that morning. Approaching the
scene, he saw several people standing around George
who was lying on the ground. After assessing the
scene and checking George for responsiveness, Parker
realized George was not responding so he started
compressions. Parker asked someone to call 9-1-1 and
go meet EMS to bring them back to the courts. They
applied the AED, but it said no shock advised. Parker
started compressions again and continued until EMS
arrived and resumed care.
On December 3, 2024, Parker Burns received the
American Lifesaving Award / Medal for his quick
actions and knowledge to save George Oestreich.
Parker would like to thank Beth Swem for the
nomination of this award and her years of dedicated
CPR training in the Cascades. Parker would also
like to thank George for coming to the ceremony and
being by his side for this honor and presentation.
