and and partner Val Tang also with with a a a a a a a a a a a a a combined +3 Ozzie Edwards and and and and Bernie Fischer tied with with Skip Land and and and and a a a a a a a a a a a a draw for for second place place Tied for for third place place were Don O’Such and and and and Arvin Turner along with Wit Buckalew and and Bob Palladino The C C flight guys were playing “lights out” golf today far above their quotas Kevin Cahill with with the the the round of the the the day at +9 along with with partner Rich Conzo combined for a a a a a a a a a a a a a whopping +15 and and the C C flight title Jim Fitzgerald and and Dan Gromko had an an an an an an impressive +10 card for second place while Paul Zumbo and Art Leishman were one stroke behind for third Multiple birdie scorers included Kevin Cahill with with three with with John Pipe and Jeff Ross scoring a a a a a a a a pair apiece Jim Fitzgerald Tom Russian Bob Bob Fisher Daren Desiere Art Leishman Bob Bob Palladino and Larry Belton each had one In Closest to to the Pin competition Ron Quackenbush and Roy Nevirauskas were both winners on on on #3 due to to to a a a a a a a carry- over from the the the previous week Steve Bisacco took the the the prize prize on on #7 There were no greenies on on #16 so the the the prize prize pool will carry to next week April 8th – The Saints Saints - Today we we witnessed a a a a a a a a ONCE IN A A BLUE MOON event at at the the Saints Saints almost celestial in in in in in nature and and rarity! In the the 10 years since this reporter became involved with our Cascadian postings and and serv- ing ing on on the the the Board of the the the CMGL we have never seen TWO eagles scored on on on on on the the the the SAME day day by our player-members but today Fred Gehron did it on on on on on on on the the the par par 5 second hole and Roy Nevirauskas on on on on on on the the the par par 4 seventeenth Congratulations to to both of them!

nation today Ho-hum Today’s match was the simple every man for himself indi- vidual competition in three flights The A flight winner was was Fred Gehron at +7 Ron Rider was was close behind in in in in in in second place shooting an impressive 30 points with Roy Nevirauskas in in in in in third In the the tight B flight competition Arvin Turner took the the top honors with with +6 Rich Eisenberg
was one one stroke stroke behind behind in in in in second place with with Lloyd Torrey one one stroke stroke behind behind him in in in in third C C flight honors went to Jim Fitzgerald who bested the the the large “C” field with with the the the round of the the the day at +9 Dan Gromko finished second with with Dave Kovalevich John Kline and Charlie Foster in in in a a a a a a a a a a three-way tie for third Due to to to the the the unusually large size of the the the C C flight roster today a a a a a a a a a a a few extra guys were in the the the money Larry Belton and Uno Lausen tied tied for for fourth place place while Al Dlugolenski John Pipe and Patrick Cunningham tied tied for for 5th place place Strong winds kept the birdie count low today Ron Rider had two while Jeff Ross Jim Jim Blevins Jerry Buckalew Arvin Turner Charlie Foster Jim Jim Gleason and Patrick Cunningham each carded one In Closest to the Pin competition we had two winners on on on on on #3: Roy Nevirauskas and and Carl Morante Howard Malis won on on on on #7 and and Val Tang took the prize on on on on #16 April 15th – – The Saints – – Given all our rain wind and general gloom experiences earlier in in in in in the year we we were due for a a a a a a a a a a a a a a winner Today was that day day day sometimes referred to as as a a a a a a a a a a a a “Chamber of Commerce” weather day day day temperature in in in the the the mid-to-high 70s low humidity plentiful sun and and mostly gentle breezes and and with the the the the Saints in in in reasonably good condition before the the the the the summer heat strikes the the the the the mem- bers of of of the the the the CMGL were inspired to turn in in in one of of of their best overall days of of of of golf in in in a a a a a a LONG time (About 10 years or so see “Blast ” below ) Thirty-three of of 53 players were above quota with an an astounding 19 circled 3s on the the the scorecards We also saw some outstanding individual performances Ron Becker with the the the round of the the the day at at +9 and and four players coming in in at at +7 Jim Jim Fitzgerald Jim Jim Gleason Ozzie Edwards and and Rich Eisenberg
The match today was our our signature ABC +1 mixed four- some format with all scores counting Taking the checkered flag in in in in first place were Phil Banashek Arvin Turner Paul Zumbo and Bob Haskins with an an an extraordinary combined score of +17 Separated by just one one point Fred Gehron Skip Land Jim Fitzgerald and and and Tim Mygatt came in in in in at at +16 for second place and and and one one point behind them Carl Morante Val Tang Paul Mezzo and Ron Becker scored +15 for third That’s some impres- sive team play!
As to to the the aforementioned birdie bonanza over a a a a a a a third of the the the players in in today’s field claimed one one Incredible! Arvin Turner was the the only multi-birdie scorer with two while TOC 37
