The Inside Story
BY Carolyn Goodin
IN MY LAST COMMUNICATION, I WROTE ABOUT THE METAMORPHOSIS
OF THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS FOR INTERIOR PLANTSCAPERS.
I suggested getting certified is a good path to Professionalizing your
business and your staff. Why bother? This is why. Credentials.
Those little letters that come after your name says much about you. They show peo-
ple you are serious about what you do. They indicate you are educated in your field.
They describe you as a Professional.
Certifications look great on a resume. In other words, you are a
PROFESSIONAL in your field of work and are bound to a standard that non-creden-
tialed individuals aren’t. It connotes excellence and quality
of our work. It is the difference between an accountant and a CPA or
a Journeyman vs. a Master Electrician.
