Numbers that tell the position or order of something are

called ordinal numbers.

Look at this picture of a car race shown below.

NUMERACY The car that wins the race is said to be in the first position.

The car that finishes the race next is in the second position

and so on.

The ordinal numbers from 1 to 10 are as follows:
