NUMBERS UP TO 9999
Let us recall our previous knowledge about numbers.
l After 9 comes 10 (10 is 1 more than 9).
l After 99 comes 100 (100 is 1 more than 99).
What comes after 999 OR what is 1 more than 999?
1 more than 999 is 1000.
In words, we write 1000 as one thousand.

1000 is the smallest -digit number.

We keep on adding 1 and get more -digit numbers, for example, 1000, 1001,
