Take an empty glass.
                                                                                What does it do...
Though it seems empty, it is full of air.
A fan just moves the air
                                                                                 around it.
To test this, try to insert it upside down
               in a tub of water.

It may not be easy to do so as the glass
               is full of air.

Now, tilt the glass slightly and push it

               inside the water.

You will see air bubbles escaping as the

water enters the glass. This is because
            ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
the air has come out of the glass.

               Uses of Air

All living things need air to breathe. We cannot
live without air. Air helps us in many ways.

A kite flies because of moving air.

Air helps things to move. For example, it makes a

boat sail. It also moves the blades of a windmill.

A hot air balloon rises because of the hot air

               entering it.
