Objectives
• Discuss the purposes of different kinds of interviews, such as a food and nutrition interview and a
preemployment interview.

• Develop a list of appropriate questions for a food and nutrition interview and sequence them.

CASE CHALLENGE 1
Delores Maynard is a 55-year-old woman who works in a corporate office. She visits the
corporate wellness center and makes an appointment with Joan Stivers, a nutritionist. D.M is 5’2” tall and
weighs 190 lb. She has mild hypertension. She is married with two grown children.
Nutritionist: “What brings you to today’s appointment?”
D.M: “I need to lose some weight to help control my blood pressure.”
Listening well is as powerful a means of communication and influence as to talk well.
