either one of the two paths. The Service Lifecycle stages are targeted at business or project managers who need to understand and participate in using and improving the IT decision making process. Upon successful completion and exam of each course, each course in this path earns the student 3 credits towards their SM diploma. The Service Capability modules represent a more detailed knowledge for managing individual or groups of processes (process design, management and control). Once a total of 17 credits have been earned (2 foundation & 15 additional intermediate), students may take the Managing Across the Lifecycle Course. Upon completion of the course and successful exam, the student earns an additional 5 credits. This credit total of 22 will entitle the student to the designation of ITIL® 2014 Expert. No additional exams are required to receive this certification, only that the student has achieved a total of 22 credits in each of the correct categories (foundation, intermediate, and advanced).
