Service Design
The main purpose of the Service Design stage of the lifecycle is the design of new or changed services for introduction into the live environment. Everything required to make this new or changed service as valuable as can be to the customer (target market) must be considered. This includes the service itself (who will use it?, how will it be used?, where will it be used?, what skill-sets need to be prepared?, what training should be prepared?, etc.) Customers must be interviewed and requirements collected. Effective Service design organizations will perform a “design” process, ensuring the reuse of any object that can be reused. They will have a defined list of what is to be considered and are responsible for considering each of those items. In order to be assured of a good outcome, appropriate design metrics must be in place.
