IT Service Continuity Management Process (ITSCM)
The IT Service Continuity management process is responsible for planning, and implementing the plans for dealing with a major outage or issue that would be considered disastrous to the customer or organization. This process does Disaster Recovery Planning for restoring IT services. ITSCM is not responsible for all disaster plans, only plans for the recovery of IT services. ITSCM operates
under the direction of Business
Continuity Management which
includes ITSCM.
The process responsible for managing risks that could seriously affect IT services. ITSCM ensures that the IT service provider can aways provide minimum agreed service levels, by reducing the risk to an acceptable level and planning for the recovery of IT services. ITSCM should be designed to support business continuity management.
Service Continuity Management
has activities that are iterative by
their nature. After developing the
continuity plan, service continuity
management must ensure the
continual re-alignment with the
overall business continuity plan.
Business priorities change often
and there- fore affect the validity of both business and service continuity plans. IT service continuity must always be looking at the business impact of any continuity decisions. This is done through the performance of business impact analysis and risk analysis.
