Change Process Models
A process model is a way of predefining the steps that should be taken to handle a process (in this case a process for dealing with a particular type of change) in an agreed way. This will ensure that such changes are handled in the predefined path and to predefined timescales. Changes that require specialized handling could be treated using a separate change model. (e.g., emergency changes that may have different authorization and may be documented retrospectively.)
Change Models may be input into Change Management support tools and the tools then may automate the handling, management, reporting and escalation of the process. Risk Size, Change Type, and Involved Parties influence the level of authority that is required.
