NIS






















             NIS, or Network Information Systems, is a network service that allows authentication and login
             information to be stored on a centrally located server. This includes the username and password
             database for login authentication, database of user groups, and the locations of home directories.

          Requirements

               Packages
                 ypserv-2.13.5.i386.rpm
                 ypbind-1.17.2-3.i386.rpm
                 yp-tools-2.8-7.i386.rpm

               Port Numbers
                 NIS uses random port numbers
                 root@comp1 ~]# rpcinfo –p

               Configuration File
                 /var/yp/Makefile

               Service
                 ypserv
                 yppasswdd

               Daemons
                 ypserv
                 yppasswdd

          1. Install the packages
          root@comp1~]# yum install ypserv*
          root@comp1 ~]# cd /mnt
          root@comp1 ~]# rpm -ivh yp* --force --aid

          2. Assigning an NIS domain
          [root@comp1~]# nisdomainname zoom.com
