Message from the President of MES

In my messages over the previous few years, I have been emphasizing how the annual

magazine constitutes an important tradition of recording the high points of what the

students would have experienced in their school or college lives.

However, 2020-21 has been a year like no other, in the living memory of the students,

teachers or management. Therefore, the annual magazine has also to be different. It

cannot be a mere catalogue of the calendar of events as it may or may not have

unfolded. More than the disruption it caused by replacing in-person learning with

online classes, Covid-19 dislocated lives and livelihoods. Quite a few families suffered

loss of income. Some students may have lost a dear one. There have been other

setbacks, including the irreplaceable loss of time spent with friends, classmates and

        teachers.

So, how do students look back on 2020-21 and capture its impact on their lives? I hope

the contributors to and the editors of the magazine are creative enough to express their

lived experience in words, verses, sketches and photographs. I wish that

Sphurana 2020-21 can be a collector’s item that students and staff can hold on to and

recall years later what they went through during the pandemic.

My best wishes to each and every one of you.
        S. Krishna Kumar
        President,
