2007 Canadian-bred Yearling Sale - CTHS Ontario Division - Sept 4 & 8, Woodbine Sales Pavilion
Kelly Kersey (left) and Sarah Seitz of Anderson Farms located in St. Thomas, Ontario. Anderson Farms was agent for one yearling in the Selected Session of the sale, Hip No. 184 a filly by Kafwain - Castle Mey, by With Approval, who was purchased by Ian Black for $45,000.
The Select Sale Topper was Hip No. 108, the colt seen here, who is by Peace Rules - Sandhill Charm, by Vanlandingham, purchased for $195,000 by Winsong Farms.
Agent Richard G. Hogan had 11 yearlings in Selected Sale and12inthePreferred. HisbiggestsaleinthePreferredwas Hip No. 434, a colt by Cat’s At Home - Freecielo, by Conquistador Cielo who sold for $27,000 to P. Halsall.

Ferme Du Bois Vert had three yearlings in the Selected Sale with their biggest seller being on of the top selling horses in the sale - Hip No. 168, a filly by Belong to Me - Ayanka, by Jade Hunter, who was purchased by agent Lawley-Wakelin Bloodstock Inc. for $120,000.
CTHS Ontario September Yearling Sale
The 2007 Canadian-Bred Yearling Sale in Toronto concluded its two-day session with a total of 310 horses selling for $7,621,000, for an average of $40,088 in the Selected Session, on September 4 and $8,258 in the Preferred Session on September 8. Last year’s Sale recorded a total of 301 horses selling for $8,288,300, while in 2005, 305 sold for $7,392,500. RNA’s decreased significantly from 120 in 2006 to 96 in 2007.
While the average was down slightly from last year, this year’s median for the Selected Sale increased by 18.5%, indicating a strong middle market.
“There was quite good activity in the middle market this year,” said Ryan Mahan, lead auc- tioneer of Ryan Mahan & Associates of Kentucky. “The good and solid, athletic horses went well.”
The Selected Session’s sale topper was Hip No. 108, an Ontario-foaled colt from the first crop of Peace Rules from the mare Sandhill Charm by Vanlandingham that sold for $195,000. Bred by Ron Clarkson and consigned by Richard Hogan, Agent, the bay colt was purchased by Jim and Alice Sapara’s Winsong Farms.

CTHS Ontario Winter Mixed Sale
The CTHS Winter Mixed Sale will take place Saturday, December 1 at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion at Woodbine Racetrack, Toronto. Entries close October 1, 2007.
Consisting of broodmares, stallions, stallion shares, weanlings, yearlings and horses of racing age, this Sale promises to have something for everyone. Catalogues are expected out in early November.

Agent Beth Hancock (left) watches as the final touches are done to Hip No. 14 before going in the auction ring. Beth’s biggest sale was Hip No. 120 for owner Linda Mason, a filly by Where’s the Ring - Smart Zone, by Wild Zone who sold for $75,000 to UN Stable.
Out of her consignment of three yearlings for the Preferred sale, Hip No. 424, a colt by The Fed - Empress of Sheba, by Alysheba fetched the highest price at $11,000 from purchaser David Bell.
It was a busy time at the Gardiner Farm consignment barn. Gardiner Farms Limited consigned 13 yearlings in the Selected Sale and 14 yearlings in the Preferred. Their biggest sale in the Select was Hip No. 149, a colt by Bold Executive - Abby O, by Deputy Commander, who was purchased by Brian Cullen for $67,000. The highest sale in the Preferred was Hip No. 279, a colt by Bold Executive - Mad ‘bout You, by Skip Trial, who was purchased for $30,000 by Ian Black as agent.

Box Arrow Farm was agent for 6 yearlings in the Selected Sale and 5 in the Preferred. Their top seller in the Selected sale was Hip No. 34, a filly by Milwaukee Brew - Lady in Tails, by Black Tie Affair (IRE) who was purchased by Rolph Davis for $27,000.
Their top seller in the Preferred sale was hip No. 412 - a filly by Skip Away - Cozy Up Doc, by Explosive Red, who was purchased by Sue Leslie for $37,000.
Amy Preston and Mike Smith were on hand at the Shannondoe Farm consignment barn. Shannondoe Farm had a consignment of 5 yearlings in the Selected Sale all of which were sold for a total of $247,000. Their top year- ling was Hip No. 55, a colt by Northern Afleet - Miss Prado, by El Prado (Ire), who sold for $75,000 to Domenic DiLalla
