                  Untying: Untying is the opposite of tying. Free the working end and pull it

                  all the way through each round turn, one turn at a time.







                  Using a Heaving Line

                  To throw a heavy rope across a wide gap, tie the monkey’s fist in medium-
                  weight rope to make a size convenient for throwing, leaving a relatively

                  short standing part. Tie the standing part to a lightweight “messenger line”

                  longer than the gap, and tie the other end of the messenger line to the heavy
                  rope. The person on the other end of the gap who receives your toss will use

                  the messenger line to pull the heavier line across.
