35. One-handed Bowline


               Also known as: Bowline Loop, Bowline Knot




               Climbers occasionally need to tie a Bowline with one hand because the
               other is occupied holding on to something for dear life. This method
               requires good manual dexterity, but it produces a standard Bowline with all
               its virtues.




                 Uses: general lifting, personal safety, connecting ends of two ropes, sail-to-sheet connections, docklines
                 Pros: secure; easy to tie, easy to untie

                 Cons: can capsize and slip; not the most secure form of bowline
