common use as cordage is twine for gardening and package tying. Jute rope is

rarely put to heavy-duty use, but it is used decoratively. It is, according to one
S&M website, “the traditional choice in rope for bondage.”

               Coir

Made from the fiber of coconut shells, coir is one of the few natural fiber ropes
that will float. It holds knots well, but that’s about the sum of its benefits. Coir
has poor durability and very high stretch, and is quite coarse. It is the weakest of
the natural rope fibers, so ropes tend to be made in large diameters to
compensate. Coir rope is rarely found in Western hardware stores or chandleries,
but it is available for craft purposes and is still widely used in the production of
               floor mats.
