Australia Australia is one of the founding members of the International Cricket Council
and still remains one of the most powerful countries on and off of the field –
their history dating back to the 1800’s when it was introduced by a British
Ship’s Crew members.
Bangladesh Bangladesh became the 10th country to be accorded full Test status in the
year 2000. Their first Test match was played in November of that year, in
Dhaka against India. They had their first international tournament in England
in the ICC Trophy competition in 1979. There was a domestic first-class
tournament between six regional teams that was established between 2000
and 2001. Since then, Bangladesh gained Test status making it the most
popular sport within their country.
India Cricket is played in almost in every corner of the country, whether it is in the
city streets, cricket ovals or even open fields in the countryside. Looking at
the history of the game, the country’s cricketers have displayed a good hand-
eye coordination and strong wrists, and the batsmen have seen to be some
of the most productive in the history of the game.

The game in India dates back to the 18 century. The Indian team played
their first ever Test match in the year of 1932 but waited 20 years for their
first ever Test match victory against England in Chennai. The game developed
th
fast within the country and at the end of the 20 century India was known as
one of the world’s primary cricketing countries.

The growth of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the early 21 century, the
country became the unquestionable home of the Twenty20 cricket
tournament and the financial centre of the game. India’s importance in one-
day cricket was further confirmed when they won the 2011 Cricket World
Cup.
New Zealand The game has had a strong national structure in New Zealand. The history of
local cricket within the country is often dated back to 1860, though there is
evidence that unofficial matches between provinces were played in New
Zealand many earlier. They formed their own council in 1894 and is known as
the NZ Cricket Council and was finally acknowledged a full membership of the
ICC in 1926.
Pakistan The development of cricket within the country has been chaotic, unrealistic,
and bizarre in roughly equal measure to say the least. They won the 1992
Cricket World Cup. Unfortunately, due to the constant political interferences
and scandals their country’s cricket was constantly affected. In 2010, their
national team was basically in virtual exile as they were unable persuade any
of the other countries to play in Pakistan, as they were all in fear of terrorist
attacks due to the attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009, leaving 6 dead
and a couple of players critically injured. 3 members of the Pakistani team
that were touring was involved in the allegations of “sport fixing” ending up
being banned by the ICC. The country has however produced a couple of
talented players and proved itself to be quite skilful at Twenty20 cricket by
winning the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup.
