Lines can also be graphed using their x-intercept and y-intercept. When equations of lines are written in
forms like 2x + 3y = 12, it may be easier to draw the line by plotting the intercepts as two points on the
graph.
To find the intercepts of the line, you will be replacing one variable with zero.
Steps:
1. To find the x-intercept, let y = 0 and solve for x. Then you will have an ordered pair (x, 0) to
graph.
2. To find the y-intercept, let x = 0 and solve for y. Then you will have an ordered pair (0, y) to
graph.
3. Graph both points and connect the dots.
