An unforgettable year
Before the Covid-19 pandemic started, life went on normal as usual. I went to my school in person, my parents
worked all day, and my little brother went to kindergarten as he always did.
I guess none of us ever expected that the rest of the year was going to change.
It was January 2020. School has just started again after winter break. I was so excited and happy, because I
just placed first at the Mock exams amongst the other sixth graders. After a week at school, the government
made a decision to close all the schools, universities and kindergartens for about 2 months due to Covid-19.
We started getting online lessons through TV and internet. It was quite difficult to understand those
lessons, because we couldn’t interact with the teachers and ask them whatever we want to know. In April 2020, I
started doing school online on Microsoft Teams program with my teachers and other students as well. I swear, it
was way better than having lessons on TV.
For me, Covid-19 pandemic quarantine was a good advantage for me to learn Spanish and improve my
English skills by watching TV shows and series on Netflix. I had classes and babysat my brother at the same time
and learned how to be independent. It was also difficult and unfortunate because my family members caught
the virus and I couldn’t meet my friends.
However, it was definitely the most unforgettable year of my life.
