P. 5
The Council has tasked us with entering the Dreadfall to rescue Speculan and
Freculan, wards of Councilor Egass. The two brothers were last seen heading
towards the forest, though I cannot shake the suspicion that Egass has
somehow orchestrated this entire situation to his advantage.

EGASS
A high ranking member of the Lythrion
Council of Elves. His motives escape me...
He is far too cunning. I trust him even less
than my mother did.
I have reason to believe he has paid
Emmeline to steal my books on more than
one occasion. I hope his abhorrent nature is
obvious to her.

It would be mundane to label it a mere “haunted forest”, for it is far

with natural magic. Though I am terrified to enter
it, I admit I am curious to learn more.

Finding the brothers, Speculan and Freculan,
is proving to be no easy feat. I'm convinced
the trees are moving, shifting the path. The
branches reach out to us as though alive.
Figures amongst the trees beckon me. The mist confuses Emmeline's tracking
and Uradine grows frustrated with the lack of progress. Mittens swears to
hearing a heartbeat.
I am brought to one singular - rather mad - conclusion.
