Her designs have appeared on the stage of the Kennedy Center (Cootie Shots), Orange County Performing Arts Center (Two Thousand Steps), Odyssey Theater (Year One of the Empire). In 1997, Ferrara created the costumes for the Public Television production Isabelle d’Este: First Lady of the Renaissance.
The Ferrara’s have worked together several times. Martha describes collaborations with her brother William.
“This will be my sixth production collaboration with William—preceded by Coronation of Poppea, Il trovatore, The Turn of the Screw, The Bartered Bride and Così fan tutte. All of those projects were started at long distance, with me in California and William in Iowa or Oklahoma. If communication, visually and verbally, is clear and frequent, then it’s a ne arrangement. “
